Oxford United is happy to announce that Jack Lee, a graduate of the Youth Academy, has agreed to his first professional deal.
In an attempt to advance to the first team, the youthful attacker, who scored 30 goals for the Under-18s the previous season, has signed a professional contract with the club.
After going through trials at Chelsea, Wimbledon, and most recently, Crystal Palace, the 17-year-old has been with the Club since 2023.
He forged a strong partnership with Leo Snowden last season, as the two scored 65 goals together in all competitions.
"This means a lot to me, and to my family," he stated after he signed his professional contract.
Having finally reached this point after much effort, it's good to sign. When I played against the Under 15 team while I was at Crystal Palace, Oxford picked me up.
I signed with the club after scoring and providing an assist after coming off the bench. "I achieved 30 goals last season, which was my initial aim for the season.
The Under 18s had a fantastic season, making it to two semi-finals and finishing second in the league.
"I want to start gaining experience with the First Team right away. I will gain a lot of knowledge from playing under this coach, and I want to absorb as much as I can when I train with the First Team.
"I can improve my game a lot by asking players like Sparky and Tom Bradshaw questions and seeing how they prepare every day.
"My goal is to score another 30 goals with the Youth Academy before making my Championship debut, and I want to train with the First Team more now."
"Jack had a very strong season with the Under 18s last year, and we feel he fully deserves this deal for his performances," stated Ed Waldron, Head of Football Operations.
"We are eager to see how Jack can perform once he returns to the field, but regrettably, he had an injury that has prevented him from participating in preseason.
"It's a fantastic testament to the work the Youth Academy is doing to develop players who we hope can become First Team ready in the months and years to come that Jack, Leo Snowden, and Louis Griffiths have all recently signed professional contracts."
