Ian Holloway doesn't understand why the striker from Swindon Town can't be the next Ian Wright

After travelling to play Walsall, one of the early-season favourites for promotion, Swindon Town kicked off their League Two campaign this year.

Following the conclusion of the previous season, there is excitement surrounding the club for the 2025–26 League Two season under Ian Holloway, with MK Dons predicted to lead the division.

Swindon Town, who haven't played in the Premier League since 1994, will be hoping to begin moving back up the tiers.

Prior to the season, the Wiltshire club made various moves to bolster their roster with talented players, most notably by bringing in Irish sensation Gavin Kilkenny, who played for Bournemouth before joining last season.

Ian Holloway appears certain that one of his most recent signings to his Swindon team might make a big difference.

Ian Holloway thinks Swindon Town may benefit from Jake Tabor.

Jake Tabor was acquired by Swindon Town from the non-league after he scored 127 goals in 91 games for Amersham Town of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North during the previous two seasons.

Now, Ian Holloway has given him the support he needs to step up and thinks he could become like Ian Wright.

"It doesn't matter if they have scored at this level or not yet," the Swindon manager stated. Are you able to score?

And if you are able to score, does that imply that you are not going to be skilled enough to score if you have never played at this level?

It is how you score, what the team creates, and what you ultimately require.

When Ian Wright joined, he began to score goals at the age of 26, and he eventually became Arsenal's leading goal scorer.

"Give me a centre forward all day long because I find entertainment in watching others score goals and accomplish things I couldn't because I wasn't good enough to do it."

On his very first professional contract, Tabor After playing for a while outside of the EFL, 22-year-old Jake Tabor has earned his first professional contract with Swindon.

Ian Holloway is prepared to trust him this season at Swindon, though, as he has demonstrated that he knows where the net is.

"It's absolutely amazing to sign my first deal, something I never thought would happen, especially at 22 years old," Tabor added, clearly enjoying the challenge. It's a dream realised.

It's unique to have Ian Holloway, a former Premier League manager, as the manager. "After putting in a lot of effort at Amersham, it's time to succeed in League Two. I am prepared to take on the challenge.

Every week, Amersham provided a fantastic opportunity to play men's football. "It's time to demonstrate my abilities at this advanced level."
