A reporter for Sky Sports provides a significant update on Leeds United's second attempt to acquire Igor Paixao.

If Leeds United can outbid AS Roma and Olympique Marseille for the Feyenoord winger's services, Igor Paixao might become their seventh summer acquisition.

Considering that the 49ers, Adam Underwood, Robbie Evans, and company have already added seven players, Igor Paixao might be a potentially "transformational" addition for Daniel Farke and Leeds United.

With Lukas Nmecha joining on a free transfer from VfL Wolfsburg, only one of the seven new players is an attacker.

Although it's obvious where the emphasis needs to change right now, Leeds has had a genuine interest in Paixao for more than a month.

Then, Marseille increased their interest in Paixao, which complicated a deal. A few weeks later, it even appeared that Marseille might sign Paixao at a different stage.

Leeds prepared a £28 million bid after failing to sign Igor Paixao. However, one cannot undervalue the Premier League's appeal.

Additionally, the English Premier League's financial structure aids Feyenoord, and it has been asserted that Leeds has more to give than Marseille.

Even if the Ligue 1 powerhouses' "final" bid for Paixao was just turned down, their interest didn't go away overnight. After several discussions, it was even asserted that Paixao favours Marseille.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano's most recent update from yesterday evening, Leeds was "closing in" on the deal and "pushing with intention" for Paixao.

Things appear to be moving more quickly towards a resolution.

But Sky Sports' Anthony Joseph has provided a somewhat less encouraging update.

According to him, Leeds and Feyenoord were unable to agree on the initial bid.

Leeds is now increasing that offer, which is wonderful news. He claims on Twitter/X that Leeds is willing to pay £28 million plus add-ons for Paixao and that talks are still going on, despite Feyenoord receiving a £26 million offer for the player.

Roma is still keeping an eye on the situation, and Marseille is still in negotiations.

Further elaborating on that, his colleague Zinny Boswell said Leeds is "locked in negotiations with Feyenoord" for the 25-year-old and prepared to raise their offer for the winger after the first proposal failed to meet the Dutch club's requirements.

In light of Leeds' pursuit of Paixao, Graham Smyth shares Daniel Farke's perspective on the transfer window.

We announced that Leeds would add at least six more players after Sean Longstaff arrived. Since then, they have signed Anton Stach and Lucas Perri, so four more players should be added, assuming there aren't any significant departures. Rodrigo Muniz, a winger, full-back cover, and another more aggressive midfielder are those players.

If Paixao were to close out swiftly, only three further signings would need to be made in the remaining five weeks of the window, checking the box for the former.

Leeds is currently gaining momentum, and every new player makes it little easier to entice the next one.

According to Graham Smyth, Farke believes it has been "so far, so good." He continues by saying that the hiring department is carrying out the strategy "step by step."

He continues by saying that Feyenoord is still negotiating with them since they wanted more than the initial offer for Paixao, and Marseille is currently having trouble keeping up with Leeds' efforts.
