According to reports, Ipswich Town have made an offer to recruit a new £17 million striker, who is also wanted by some of Europe's best teams.

Ipswich are looking for a new striker after Delap's departure
Ipswich have madHirst may have struggled to adjust to the Premier League last season, scoring only three goals, but the centre-forward was a consistent source of goals and assists during the 2023-24 Championship campaign, contributing 13 goals in 26 games.

As a result, the 26-year-old may lead the line for a promotion-chasing team, but the Tractor Boys have made an offer to recruit a new striker, who is garnering interest from some of Europe's top teams.e a solid start to the summer transfer market, signing Azor Matusiwa, Cedric Kipre, and Ashley Young.

However, following Liam Delap's transfer to Chelsea, Kieran McKenna must make a difficult decision: continue to rely on George Hirst as the main man in attack, or chase a new striker.
According to Football Insider, Ipswich have made contact about signing Metz forward Idrissa Gueye, who might be available for roughly £17 million this summer.

However, there may be tough competition for Gueye's signing, as Liverpool, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, and Borussia Dortmund have all made offers, demonstrating how highly the 18-year-old is regarded.

With a number of Serie A's best teams and Manchester United also interested in the striker, it may be tough for the Tractor Boys to complete a deal, but there is obviously interest on their part, and the race is now on.
Gueye may be a major coup for Ipswich.
It would be a great coup if McKenna's side could acquire the Metz forward, given how highly regarded he is, having previously been compared to a Liverpool star, with journalist Alan Nixon saying the kid is "rated as highly as Sadio Mane was".
The Senegalese starlet has already forced his way into the Metz first team, scoring five goals and providing one assist in 17 Ligue 2 appearances last season, implying that he may be ready to lead the line for a Championship side.

However, considering that Gueye is being chased by some of Europe's greatest teams, it is doubtful that Ipswich will be able to complete a transfer, thus it may be worth shifting focus to a more reachable objective.

Widespread speculation has claimed that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is also on the Tractor Boys' radar, and the 31-year-old might be a strong addition, having scored 69 goals and assisted 15 times in 217 Championship games.
