Ipswich Town is searching for a new wide option, and Kasey McAteer of Leicester City is starting to come into play.
According to John Percy on X, Ipswich Town has made a bid for winger Kasey McAteer against promotion rivals Leicester City.
Ipswich Town had a respectable start to the season and hopes to return to the Premier League right away.
Though the play-offs will be the bare minimum, ITFC will have a top two finish in mind.
The Tractor Boys have drawn all three of their games this season, however they were eliminated from the Carabao Cup after losing to Bromley on penalties.
After facing Southampton and Birmingham City, the East Anglian team has already faced two of the most difficult matches of the Championship season.
But Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, is calling for more going forward after his team only registered two efforts on goal in both Championship games.
However, reinforcements are also desired, and according to John Percy of The Telegraph, ITFC is interested in signing Kasey McAteer, a winger for Leicester City.
Although it is unclear if the bid was accepted, the Tractor Boys are optimistic that a deal will be reached.
Kasey McAteer's interest in Leicester City is nothing new. Clubs have previously approached Leicester City for McAteer; in January, Sunderland expressed interest in the 23-year-old.
McAteer stayed in the team after City rejected the bid, which was less than the rumoured £8 million asking price.
McAteer, who missed a lot of the previous season, forced his way into the starting eleven for the last month and scored his first Premier League goal in the team's 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town.
McAteer helped Leicester win the title in 2023–2024 by scoring six goals in 23 games, demonstrating his ability to be a quality Championship player.
Statistics for Kasey McAteer of Leicester City via Transfermarkt
The Tractor Boys are reportedly interested in Nordsjaelland teenager Sindre Walle Egeli, who scored nine goals in the Danish Superliga the previous season.
McAteer is not the only player Ipswich Town is considering as a replacement for Omari Hutchinson.
After losing Omari Hutchinson to Nottingham Forest for an estimated £37.5 million, ITFC has a lot of money to spend, but it's unlikely that either McAteer or Egeli will be signed.
Ipswich Town has seen wide plays from Jack Clarke, Chiedozie Ogbene, Sammie Szmodics, Jaden Philogene, and the injured Wes Burns.
Despite this, Leicester City still has the final say because star player Bilal El Khannouss is rumoured to be interested in joining Crystal Palace of the Premier League.
Therefore, it's possible that the Foxes will acquire a pre-made substitute before making a decision on academy graduate McAteer's future.
