Gale, "I can't put the feeling into words"

After scoring his first goal for Gillingham in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra, Sam Gale was ecstatic.

Last season, in front of the Rainham End, the academy graduate had the opportunity to score the game-winning goal against the same opponents.

He thought about that event all through the second half. Crewe had multiple chances to take the lead, and Gills had to put in a lot of effort to keep the scoreless score throughout the match

The young defender acknowledged how everyone is working together and praised the team's defensive efforts.

Gale talked about the challenges of running the game with an early booking during the match.

On netting the Football Club's first goal...

This day has been fantastic. Ironically, I was thinking in the second half about how I lost a great opportunity to Crewe at home at the Rainham End last season.

That's what I was thinking, and the game ended in a draw. I was hoping that I would put it away if I had the chance. Fortunately, that one was a little simpler than the one I faced the previous season. I'm buzzing.

To put it simply, the objective is for my family. This week has been quite difficult for us. It meant a lot to my entire family to be at the ground today.

Beggars aren't able to make choices. I would have taken it wherever it came because I'm a centre half and don't score many goals, but to win the game against an undefeated team at the Rainham End would have been amazing. Not only are we undefeated, we have won every game to maintain our undefeated status.

It feels fantastic. I am unable to describe the sensation of being in front of the Rainham End at this time.

 The team's collective defensive efforts...

Robbie [McKenzie], Smudge [Andy Smith], and Glenn [Morris] were outstanding today as well; it's not just us guys at the back. It's impossible to blame them. The work that the front-line boys accomplish.

When you look at Josh [Andrews], he collides with the ground. It's incredible that a player who hasn't played much football in recent years can accomplish that. The same is true of Nev [Elliott Nevitt].

Our wing-backs are putting in a lot of effort. They don't want to be defending themselves inside their own box again.

Although they are doing it for the team, they would like to continue doing the good things. Then there are the three in the middle.

Ethan [Coleman] is playing while wearing the largest bandage on his head.

He is back on the pitch on Tuesday and will be playing today after suffering one of the deepest cuts I have ever seen on Saturday.

What a team. I believe that the reason we're so difficult to break up is because we work for each other.

Handling a yellow card early... It's difficult. I tried not to let it affect my play, but I believe it was after three minutes.

Of course, you're thinking, "I've got to manage the best part of 90 minutes now on a yellow card." Particularly in League Two, where cunning players are attempting to trick you into receiving a second yellow.

It was difficult. I believe that my interest in the game increased.

Playing with a yellow card from the beginning is something I haven't had to do very frequently, but it does alter your style of play. Particularly for someone like myself who wants to get involved and be on the front foot.

I opposed a very cunning winger who plays well for them, [Tommi] O'Reilly. Although it took some getting used to, I believe that as a team, we safeguarded ourselves much more in the second half. I didn't really put myself in a position where I might earn a second yellow card.

What has been said about the team during the previous week...

It claims that we can play football in a variety of ways and in numerous permutations. The game of Chesterfield was a little more open.

We seriously injured them because they kept the ball on the deck, which created transitional opportunities.

Crewe played incredibly well today, particularly in the first half, so we had to hang on and play hard. By doing that, we demonstrated that we are a formidable squad even when we are not in possession.

Although I believed Crewe to be the superior team in the first half, I still believed we posed a serious danger and were demonstrating our flexibility. The season is lengthy.

Being undefeated in the league is fantastic. a perfect record at home. We must continue to move forward, game by game.
