A reporter praised Derby County's new lad after his summer transfer, calling him "excellent."

DCFC: Derby County has suffered defeats to Stoke City and Coventry City in their opening two Championship fixtures.

DerbyshireLive reporter Leigh Curtis has called Derby County striker Carlton Morris "excellent" with his back to goal.

The Rams' new striker from Derby County has scored twice in as many games. Over the weekend, Coventry City defeated DCFC 5-3 at home.

Morris, 29, signed a three-year contract with the Rams this summer after leaving Luton Town. He hopes to increase his total in the upcoming weeks and months, and he has gotten off to a strong start.

According to DerbyshireLive, journalist Curtis has expressed his opinion after being impressed: "Morris scored his second goal in as many games, this time a coolly taken penalty, which tied Derby even before halfway. However, the striker, who has been giving Derby what they have been lacking for a while—a forward who can truly make the ball stick—put on another outstanding display.

It would be an injustice to Morris to imply that his style is solely focused on physicality, even though he excels with his back to goal and is a handful in the air. He is the type of player who guards the ball, therefore he was glad to enter the channels when he could. You get the impression that he hasn't yet attained his peak level of fitness, and he was a handful. The former Luton captain appears to be a fantastic addition to Derby's roster of players this summer.

After Carlton Morris, a newcomer to Derby County, showed promise, the team signed him to strengthen their offensive line.

At the top end of the pitch, he will provide DCFC with greater depth and competitiveness. Norwich City was where the former England young player began his career.

He progressed through the Carrow Road academy and, in order to gain experience, was loaned out as a young player to teams like Oxford United, Rotherham United, Shrewsbury Town, and MK Dons.

After that, he spent a long time at Barnsley before Luton Town approached him. The Cambridge native scored 39 goals for the Hatters during his three years at Kenilworth Road, including eight in the most recent season.

How does Derby County fare now?

The choice Derby County made to sign Morris from Luton Town has proven to be successful.

He makes DCFC the main attraction at the top. The Rams' consecutive losses to Coventry City and Stoke City will leave them feeling let down.

In contrast to a John Eustace team, they have been giving away too many goals. Before their next games, they must tighten up at the back if they want to start scoring points.

On Friday, they return to Championship action at home against Bristol City before playing Premier League newcomers Burnley away at Turf Moor in the Carabao Cup.
