Lille enters the transfer race with Aston Villa, posing a challenge to Stoke City's midfield talent.

Stoke City and Lille have discussed a transfer for Sol Sidibe, a gifted young midfield player.

The 18-year-old has risen through the ranks at the Bet365 Stadium and is undoubtedly considered one of the club's best players. He is the son of former Potters cult legend Mamady.
Due to his talent, Sidibe has already made eight appearances for the first team this season, and he would have made many more had he not sustained a back ailment that kept him out for several months.

Lille joins Aston Villa in the transfer battle, while Sol Sidibe and Stoke City are the newest.
In addition, Sidibe has played juvenile football for England, so his abilities are widely recognised. Last month, it was reported that Aston Villa had a "strong interest" in the adolescent.

Additionally, according to French writer Marc Mechenoua, Lille is reportedly considering a bid for the player.
He clarifies that although there is no indication of the kind of money they would be ready to pay, the Ligue 1 team is "closely interested" in Sidibe and that discussions have been had between the two teams.

Since Stoke signed a professional deal last year that extends until the summer of 2027, they don't feel particularly pressured to sell their best player.

Stoke City has to make an effort to develop players like Sol Sidibe.
Since Sidibe has stayed in Staffordshire and teams tend to be connected to him every transfer window, this won't be a novel situation for Stoke.
It's far from perfect, though, and Lille's appeal is clear given that they are a successful French team playing in the top division and will be in the Europa League the next season.

Additionally, they are probably going to provide Sidibe with a clear route to the first team, which may be crucial.

In the end, you get the impression that Sidibe is eager to play every single week and will want Mark Robins to reassure him that he is an important part of his future plans.
Saying that about an 18-year-old might sound odd, but Sidibe is regarded as a talented player, so it's about giving him the chance to prove himself. He still has to work on a few things, of sure, but he has the technical skill and strength to leave his imprint in the championship

It will be intriguing to watch how this develops, but if the player is to go on during this window, Stoke will undoubtedly want a high price.
