After our preseason loss against Spanish second-tier team CD Castellón, Julien Stéphan remained optimistic, stating that the outcome is a part of a larger process before the upcoming Sky Bet Championship season.
After defeating Stevenage 5-0 in their first friendly match last weekend, Stéphan once more used different starting lineups for Saturday's 6-0 loss in Girano
Stéphan told www.qpr.co.uk, "Of course, we are disappointed by the outcome, but I think it's a process." "We must gain knowledge and develop ourselves.
We need to examine the entire scenario since we made some serious blunders today. Last week we weren't the top squad, and this week we're not the worst either.
For me, it's just a process. We need to learn from this game since we have a lot of young guys. We will get better for the next game if we thoroughly evaluate the entire issue. This procedure is for the upcoming training session and the weeks that follow.
"I gained a lot of knowledge. We also need to work on improving the fact that we were down too quickly following the first or second goal.
It is possible to give up one or two ambitions, but we must have the same optimistic outlook and mindset in order to continue pushing and attempting to generate some risk.
This is crucial because, in my opinion, we lost the game too quickly today. "We will go over the entire situation with the players, and we will definitely learn from it and get better."
At halftime, Rangers had fallen down by four goals, and Stéphan said, "It (the first half) was very, very difficult."
Because we mainly used short passes, we had trouble recovering the ball and lacked the proper choices to construct. We need to extend the opponents in this scenario, but we were unable to locate them.
It's a process, as I mentioned earlier, and we must analyse with the players, support them in this circumstance as well, and provide them with the appropriate correction.
"I would rather win, so I'm disappointed, but it's alright. It's a process, I know. I apologise for the expression, but the preseason score doesn't matter to me.
I simply want to remember the procedure that we must follow in order to get better every day and every game.
"I'm confident that we'll get some players back in two or three weeks, including some older players. You may have some positive moments throughout the preseason, like last week, and some challenging ones, like today.
To retain a positive mentality, the proper attitude with the players, to rectify the situation, and to go forward for the upcoming games, we simply need to cope with this time and keep our minds clear, informed, and composed.
Rangers have been in Girona since Wednesday as part of a 10-day international journey that will also include a match against Toulouse in France on Friday. Julien went on:
"Even though it's not the case today, we're working in excellent weather, pitch, and favourable conditions.
"All we have to do now is rest for a day, take tomorrow off and return to the pitch on Monday.
Since the opponent is a first division team, they will undoubtedly be superior to Castellón once we analyse our performance from today's game on Monday.
Therefore, we must get better and grow from the various errors we committed today. Since each game is unique, next week's game will be different.
"We had physical difficulties today, so we need to try to get better and be more aggressive as well. We found it challenging to sprint and outpace the opponent throughout several of the runs. We must make that better.
