Exclusive: Jayden Carbon, a non-league sensation, is expected to join Middlesbrough

After settling on a price with Oxford City, Middlesbrough is expected to sign Jayden Carbon, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.

On Wednesday, the non-league striker is anticipated to finalise his transfer to Riverside Stadium.

Last season, Carbon, 19, had a breakout season with Oxford City and made an impression in the National League North.

With five goals, the striker—who has been compared to Jamie Vardy—was the division's top teenage goal scorer.

Wrexham and Leicester had been following the forward, according to Football Insider.

Middlesbrough is getting closer to signing a teenager. Rob Edwards' team needs to get stronger because they will be one of the teams vying for a top six finish the following season.

Future attacker Carbon After selling Emmanuel Latte Lath to Atalanta United during the January transfer window, Middlesbrough is in dire need of striking reinforcements this summer.

Tommy Conway is the only natural, established center-forward remaining for Edwards after Josh Coburn also left for Millwall this summer.

Carbon is undoubtedly the new striker Boro is looking for, but Middlesbrough supporters will probably have to wait for this acquisition.

Despite his remarkable early rise to prominence, the 19-year-old's five goals in 39 National League games last season do not indicate he is yet prepared to start at the Championship level.

In order to make the huge jump from the National League North to the EFL Championship, Carbon may be assigned to Middlesbrough's under-21 team for a season or go on loan.
