The Mariners drew 1-1 with Accrington Stanley, but they are still undefeated.

The Mariners had to settle for an away draw with Accrington Stanley, but they maintained their undefeated start to the season.

In east Lancashire, Jaze Kabia gave Town the lead at halftime but was unable to double the lead after home custodian Ollie Wright saved his penalty shortly after the interval.

Instead, Tyler Walton secured a point for the home team with a header at the other end on minute sixty-five.

Following Tuesday's victory at Walsall, the Grimsby starting lineup saw four changes: Tyrell Warren, Reece Staunton, Geza Turi, and Justin Amaluzor replaced Doug Tharme, Kieran Green, Charles Vernam, and Jayden Sweeney.

With Harvey Rodgers, Warren, Cameron McJannet, and Staunton forming the defence, Christy Pym started in goal.

Kabia led the attack, while George McEachran sat in midfield behind Amaluzor, Turi, Evan Khouri, and Darragh Burns.

Jude Soonsup-Bell made his matchday squad debut on the bench, and Danny Rose made a triumphant comeback from injury.

Cameron Gardner, Henry Brown, Sweeney, Vernam, and Seb Auton joined them.

With one draw and two losses from their first three games of the season, Accrington was searching for their first Sky Bet League Two win.

However, after Paddy Madden completed a loan deal from Chesterfield earlier in the week, manager John Doolan was able to add a proven goal scorer to his lineup, giving him a club debut.

Before Town had a free kick in a favourable position on the right due to a foul on Rodgers, Amaluzor headed an early long throw from the home left away.

Wright, who was on loan from Southampton, knocked the ball clear after Staunton put it into the penalty area, and Staunton ultimately missed the mark from a distance. Kabia nearly got on the end of a long ball from McJannet at the opposite end, but the ball went through to Wright.

Devon Matthews missed the target for the home team with a volley from 25 yards after another long throw dropped for him.

Charlie Brown nearly put Accrington ahead on nine minutes when his header bounced over the upright after meeting a left-wing cross at the far post.

Walton grabbed the rebound but missed his 12-yard attempt. Thirteen minutes into the game, Pym got to Brown's whipping delivery first, pushing the ball behind, which resulted in another corner.

It was driven in again by Brown from the opposite left flank, and following a flurry, Pym blocked Matthews' close-range attempt.

Three minutes later, with the home team still looking strong, Burns headed the most recent Freddie Sass long throw clear after Joe Bauress' cross was just too much ahead of Madden at the far post.

A Burns cross went over the face of goal as the visitors tried to create their own chances after Bauress was shown the first yellow card of the afternoon for a late challenge on McEachran close to the Town dugout.

And the Mariners scored the first goal as they advanced again on minute 27.

After Kabia was fouled, Staunton fired a free kick towards the left corner of the Accrington box. Kabia was there to meet it with a cushioned volley that beat Wright from close range.

Town looked for a second goal after taking the lead, and Khouri had two chances in quick succession to make it 2-0.

Kabia advanced from the left and found the midfielder, but Wright's rush stopped his initial attempt, and the rebound's volley went over the bar.

The away team was now clearly in control, and Khouri nearly pulled back from Turi on a low shot before the game was stopped at 37 minutes so that Kabia could be treated. The striker was cleared to continue playing.

As the home team attempted to equalise before halftime, Burns cleared a low pull-back from Walton. Then, a foul on Kabia relieved pressure after the most recent Sass long throw was well-defended.

Warren was first to another Sass throw in the final three minutes of the first half, and then another throw-in resulted in a home corner.

The referee blew for a foul on Rodgers and a Grimsby free kick when Madden headed the ball after Brown had fired it to the far post.

Amaluzor departed the pitch after tripping and staying down for a few seconds, but no one was substituted with seconds left.

Town had a one-goal lead going into the changing rooms since neither team had any further chances before the half.
