"Tuesday showed the lads that we can compete with any team in the division."

When Wigan Athletic plays Rotherham United this weekend, Ryan Lowe wants his team to get back to winning ways.

After their close loss to Luton Town in the middle of the week, Latics will travel to the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in an attempt to bounce back.

There is always another game to recover from, much like the action-packed Sky Bet League One, and Lowe is hoping that his team can get back on track with a win over the Millers in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Looking back on Tuesday night, he told Latics TV, "I watched the game back, and I thought we were excellent."

"We just finished debriefing the guys, and there were a tonne of good things that came out of it. We had to make some adjustments, but the boys who showed up were excellent, which is why we have a squad.

I am happy and proud of the youngsters. "It's now finished and over with. The boys learnt on Tuesday that we are capable of competing with any team in the division.

This morning's training group was lively, which is how I want it to be.

We have another game to make up for, which is what we want to do on Saturday afternoon, so I don't want anyone to come in moping because we lost.

"We are aware that we cannot win every game. We know where we want to go, and we are in a transition.

We are aware that it won't happen right away. "It will be a difficult task. There will be competition amongst them.

The majority of teams in this division will not lie down; you must earn the right to play, and on Saturday we must accomplish just that. For everything, we must go there, compete, and struggle.

That's what's going to happen; they need to increase their point total because they haven't won many games yet.

"With the correct mindset and application, we must go there and hopefully achieve a favourable outcome."

The Gaffer announced Tyrese Francois and Fraser Murray will both be available for selection after being forced to make several changes on Tuesday night.

Following a strange encounter, Fraser (Murray) and Tyrese (Francois) will return to the fold.

Joe (Hungbo) has recovered from a tight thigh, Dara (Costelloe) feels much fresher, and Christian (Saydee) has recovered from a bump on his ankle.

"These athletes have given it their all for us." We must take action to retrieve them when necessary. On Saturday afternoon, we'll have a fully healthy squad to choose from."
