Ian Holloway claimed that watching Swindon Town defeat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 was the most proud thing he had ever done.
After just seven minutes, Aaron Drinan completed one of the best team movements, giving Town a lead they would maintain until the ninetieth minute.
Billy Bodin stroked home the game-winning goal in stoppage time after Callum Stewart appeared to have stolen the victory from Swindon with a deflection from a corner.
After a very challenging week, Holloway expressed his happiness with his players' response.
"It is the tale of football," he said. "We were totally thrilled away at Oldham this time last week, but on Tuesday, if Harry doesn't get hurt, they don't score the first goal, and now he is out for the season and Harrison suffers the same injury.
Even though it has been difficult, I have never been more proud of a team in my life—in all the thousand games I have played.
"We expected them to play differently, and judging by the table, they don't deserve to be in this position.
"However, I am happy that we allowed one in; it has been our weakness, but we didn't question ourselves.
You could hear me yelling, 'We have to play,' from the sidelines as we resumed our game. "We must act bravely and move the ball; we must do it immediately.
"Then Billy scored the goal after a great run from Gav, and it was unbelievable."
After Smith's loss, Holloway continued, the squad had to alter their strategy this week, so receiving a performance like that was remarkable.
He stated: "I had to explain that sometimes you had to take a gamble because of some of the opportunities we created today due to their team's lack of practice due to injury.
"Last year, we were extremely anxious and took risks, which killed us because we gave it away.
"But we have to go for this now; we can't compete with it and there isn't another route for us to get there.
"We will need to put in a lot of effort with the young people I have and their talent.
"I just yelled, 'Pass, move, play, move, play, move,' and we paused for a while before they resumed their game after I yelled.
"I am unable to do anything else at this time; that is what we must do.
"The guys did a fantastic job on Thursday with what I had to come up with, and it's amazing that they were able to accomplish that in a single training session.
"We are all doing it for Harry, we are all doing it for Minturn, we are all doing it for [James] Bally, he had a PCL this week."
