Callum Brittain's move to Middlesbrough FC is "just in time," as the former Barnsley FC defender makes a move.

Callum Brittain, a former Barnsley defender, is the third player Middlesbrough has signed under new coach Rob Edwards.

For an undisclosed sum, the 27-year-old has finalised his much-discussed transfer from Blackburn Rovers

He agreed to a four-year deal. Brittain played primarily as a right wing-back during his two seasons at Oakwell. He's mostly played right-back since coming to Blackburn three years ago.

In his first season at the Riverside, Edwards has stated that he is not set on playing with full-backs or wing-backs.

Regarding his transfer, Brittain stated, "I'm thrilled to be here, and it was the right time for me to make the next step in my career."

"I had a great conversation with the coach about his goals and how he wants to play while he's here, and it's obvious that everyone is pulling in the same direction.

"I can't wait to get going."

Abdoulaye Kante, Alfie Jones, and the Milton Keynes Dons product are all new hires for 2025–2026.

On Saturday, Boro will play Swansea City at home to start the season.

On September 1, the transfer window will remain open until 7 p.m.
