"Amazing" Mat Sadler praises Connor Barrett's impressive start to the season for Walsall.

 

Mat Sadler believes that in his second season with Walsall in League Two, Connor Barrett has recovered more forcefully.

Arriving from non-league AFC Fylde in 2024, the 23-year-old recorded 10 assists in his first Football League season last season. 

 Despite struggling for form in the second part of the season, Barrett was nominated to the  team of the season.

He has been instrumental this season, scoring the first goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory at Barnet and his first goal in a 2-1 victory over Swindon Town

Walsall boss Mat Sadler has hailed the “incredible” early-season form of defender Connor Barrett, praising both his consistency and impact. Barrett, who joined the Saddlers in the summer, has quickly established  as a key figure in the backline, impressing with his energy, composure, and attacking drive from full-back. Sadler admitted he has been delighted with how smoothly Barrett has adapted to League Two football, highlighting his maturity and determination to improve every week.

“He’s been incredible for us so far,” said Sadler. “Connor’s attitude, his willingness to work, and the quality he brings on the pitch have been first-class. He’s given us real balance and has shown he can handle the demands of this level.”

With Walsall aiming to build momentum in the opening weeks of the campaign, Sadler believes Barrett’s form will continue to be a vital ingredient in their push for success.
