Ahead of Gillingham's Saturday afternoon visit to Prenton Park, Gareth Ainsworth is concerned about the threat that Tranmere Rovers will provide.
In their most recent league game, Tranmere defeated Shrewsbury Town 4-0, and Ainsworth has been pleased with Andy Crosby's performance since he became full-time manager of the team.
The Gills manager talked about the value of momentum but hinted at the necessity of getting back up after a setback.
Ainsworth also talked about how tough every League Two match is and the selection issues he has for the weekend and beyond.
What Saturday will bring...
They've started the season well. They achieved some positive outcomes. both at home against Shrewsbury and away to Colchester.
They had a terrific victory last week. Going forward, they appear quite dangerous, and we must accept that.
You have to take a look at that and see why they scored four goals. This is an away game, therefore it will be difficult.
Bringing something back is usually a good idea, and hopefully we can obtain all three points. We are aiming towards that, but we must exercise caution.
We must respect Tranmere because they are a different animal now than they were under Andy Crosby.
[On Andy Crosby]: He's adopted this persona. I have observed their performance on a few occasions.
He has done the stripes because he was at Port Vale and has been Nigel Adkins's assistant for a long time. As a manager, he is aware of what to do.
I am quite concerned that they will be a strong, capable team that we will have to dismantle. Since they scored four goals over the weekend, we will also need to observe their strengths.
He will be pleased with his team's offensive capabilities.
The significance of momentum...
Momentum is enormous. In football, it is. It's also about getting back on track after a minor setback, which is crucial. Good managers do that, and I'll make sure my troops are prepared to get back up as quickly as something goes wrong.
League Two's level of competition...
In these sports, we must ensure that we are competitive. In League Two, that is the key. The games are close. For the sake of blowing teams away, you don't do it. Everyone is attempting to prevent the others from participating. We must go up there with a great deal of confidence in our ability to accomplish that.
Saturday's team selection...
I will now have to take into account the two who have trained under Aaron Rowe and Sam Vokes.
I am eagerly awaiting Seb Palmer-Houlden's return, which is imminent. After Euan Williams, we will need to consider Conor [Masterson] in the long run.
While I'm sleeping, I occasionally think about the squad, speculating about who will perform well and who possesses the qualities I need to accomplish my goals. I have no doubt that anybody I choose will put up their best effort.
