Wrexham agrees to a £5 million club record move, but it might not be sufficient to complete the deal.

After gaining a third straight promotion, Wrexham is searching for quality recruits to strengthen their team and has recently reached an agreement with a Premier League team.

Wrexham and Nottingham Forest have reached a £5 million deal for Lewis O'Brien, but they are having trouble paying the midfield player what he wants.

After winning three straight promotions, the Championship's newcomers are eager to spend big money on high-caliber additions to their roster.

Additionally, they are eager to bolster their midfield with Championship-proven player O'Brien after finalising agreements for Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward.

After loaning the 26-year-old to Swansea for the previous season, Forest is prepared to sell.

Furthermore, even though Wrexham and Forest have reached an agreement on a £5 million package for O'Brien's services, the player's desired personal terms are still far off.

Additionally, the former Huddersfield Town player has been linked to Hull City.

However, the Tigers are no longer in the running to sign O'Brien because they are currently under an embargo that prevents them from paying a player's transfer fee until 2027.

Although O'Brien's future with the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds-backed team is uncertain, Wrexham is anticipated to bolster other areas before to the start of the upcoming Championship season.

Numerous talented players, such as Tom Cairney, the seasoned Fulham midfielder whose contract ended at the end of June, have previously been linked to them.

As the team looks for players with a lot of experience, former England players Danny Ings and Aaron Cresswell have both been linked to moves to wrexham

After their most recent promotion, Phil Parkinson told ESPN, "We're going into one of the most competitive leagues in world football," implying that the team was eager to acquire more power and athleticism.

World football, not just European football. It's an unforgiving league.
