Tom Cleverley claims Plymouth Argyle is working hard to sign another attacker.

Although Tom Cleverley acknowledges that many members of the Green Army are impatient that Plymouth Argyle is yet to recruit a forward to wear the number nine shirt, he has maintained that it is crucial the team makes the proper choice in this regard.

Owen Oseni and Bim Pepple, both 22 years old, are the Pilgrims' only two reliable strikers at the moment, but Cleverley is optimistic that another player will be added soon to take their place.

Oseni and Pepple, who came to Argyle this summer from St. Mirren and Luton Town, respectively, have played in the preseason matches against Truro City and Eintracht Braunschweig.

Cleverley stated to Plymouth Live: "We are putting a lot of effort into getting to number nine. I believe it's no secret that discussions are moving forward and that our number nine shirt is still available for a purpose. We should finish that one as soon as possible.

Keeping an eye on the two we have in is a top priority. Both of them are development initiatives. I think Bim Pepple was great (against Truro), and Owen has adapted fairly well.

"Playing against a back five is never simple. As a forward, you must be patient. He did a great job keeping them busy, and I found a lot of appealing aspects of his game. The club is making a lot of effort to fill that position, but those two are now engaged in fierce competition and need to be encouraging one another as it's their shirt to fight over."

"It's very understandable," Cleverley said when asked if he could sense Argyle supporters' anxiousness regarding the signing of someone to wear the number nine shirt. We all want those transactions to be completed as soon as possible because the transfer windows give fans optimism, which is what makes being a football fan so thrilling.
