One of the stranger transfer agreements between Norway and Scotland

Sitting in a quiet corner of Hearts' Spanish preseason headquarters, Christian Borchgrevink had a fascinating story to share.

The cool, collected Norwegian defender is the complete contrast of the scorching sun outside. He is a recent Valerenga signing who has access to more Hearts history than the typical new hire.

Teammates call Borchgrevink a machine, a relentless runner with extraordinary endurance for a right-back. After suffering a knee injury in his own country a few months ago, he is still recovering to his full level of fitness.

He is therefore doing the majority of Hearts' sessions here in Iberia, though not all of them.

The athlete talks about his physical state and his desire to stand out in a competitive maroon squad. He is resolved to make the intended impression after learning everything there is to know about his new club in a peculiar and unusual story.

"This one is really strange," he acknowledges. A buddy of my uncle works as a social anthropologist. Strangely enough, he completed his master's thesis on Hearts' fan base in the late 1990s.
