News of a transfer to Hull City as a former Newcastle United midfielder seeks to establish himself in Turkey

Over the next seven days, as the Tigers travel to Istanbul for their yearly pilgrimage, Jonjo Shelvey will have another significant opportunity to secure a contract with Hull City.

Since the beginning of preseason, Shelvey, who left Burnley at the end of the season, has been working with City in an attempt to land a contract at the MKM Stadium.

The 33-year-old former Liverpool and Newcastle United player is anticipated to board the flight departing Humberside Airport on Sunday morning as City kicks off their seven-day training camp at Riva, the Turkish FA's home field.

In preparation for Sunday's international trip, City concluded their second training week at Cottingham with a second behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday. Tyrell Sellars-Fleming scored the game-winning goal against Grimsby Town.

City will play two friendly while in Istanbul for a week. The first will take place at Riva on Tuesday night against Istanbulspor of the second division, followed on Saturday by a match against Kasimpasa at the Super Lig club's training facility.

After that, on July 20, the Tigers return home to start their domestic campaign, which will begin on July 26 against Stockport County.

Ryan Giles, who has been dealing with an ankle issue since preseason training began at the end of June, is another player the Tigers will be hoping to play.
