Haji Wright's injury status is updated by Frank Lampard, who also predicts the striker's "big year."

CoventryLive's Frank Lampard gives the most recent information on Haji Wright's injury and when the Sky Blues may expect him to return to action.

Ahead of what he believes will be a "big year" for the Coventry City striker, Frank Lampard has given a massive vote of confidence to the player and indicated when Haji Wright is expected to return from injury.

Haji Wright will not be available until the beginning of the 2025–2026 season due to an Achilles injury, according to the Sky Blues manager. However, he has stated that he will work closely with the USA international to make sure he sees the "best of him" next season.

Due to a serious ankle injury he sustained just weeks before being named Mark Robins' replacement, Wright missed the first three months of Lampard's tenure.

Although he made a comeback to the goal scoring scene in March with a memorable hat-trick against Sunderland, the 27-year-old struggled to return to his best form for the rest of the season, scoring just two more goals for City.

However, with 12 goals overall for the season—despite playing in just 31 domestic games—and 19 goals in his first season at the CBS Arena, he remains City's best goal scorer.

Lampard gave the most recent update on the player's ailment, stating: "Haji suffered an injury when travelling with the United States of America. We are, I believe, two and a half weeks into what you would call his rehabilitation from the time of his Achilles injury.

"Hopefully, it won't be anything serious. He has been off his feet for a few weeks, yet he has done everything correctly. I was really happy that he was eager to join us here in Portugal, and having him in the group is the proper thing to do.

Haji is a key member of our team, and I was eager for him to join us here so we could complete all of the work together.

As he works through his rehabilitation, we want to get him fit for the start of the season, hopefully, and I think it can be a big year for him. "He's good with the work, he gets on it with it," the head coach continued, speaking to the club's media team. "Even for me, this is my first full season with the players, and I really want to get to work with the players and Haji individually."

"I want to work closely with him to see his full potential because he has so much talent."
