As the official arrival of Max Watters was announced, Jim Goodwin celebrates the Dundee United transfer revolution.

Jim Goodwin has praised Dundee United's summer transformation following the confirmation of Barnsley striker Max Watters as the team's eleventh acquisition.

Goodwin is happy to have one of his "top targets" join the Tangerines on a season-long loan, including 26-year-old Watters.

A few hours after Croatian winger Ivan Dolcek was taken into custody, the 6'1" forward arrived at Tannadice.

During an exceptionally active few weeks of transfer activity, Yevhenii Kucherenko, Iurie Iovu, Bert Esselink, Krisztian Keresztes, Dario Naamo, Isaac Pappoe, Panutche Camara, Amar Fatah, and Zac Sapsford have also joined the team.

"Max's arrival and our summer business thus far have both delighted me," Goodwin said on Dundee United's official website.

"The talented team I have at my disposal is evidence of the dedication that goes on behind the scenes at the football club."

Watters' signing gives Goodwin's striker pool much-needed depth, but it is known that he would still like to acquire another attacker.

Watters gained recognition in non-league football by playing for teams including Ashford United, Thurrock, and Barking.

Doncaster Rovers took notice of his exploits. Prior to a permanent move to Crawley Town, where he flourished with 16 goals in 19 appearances for the League Two team in 2020–21, he had further loan stints with Grantham Town, Gainsborough Trinity, Mickleover Sports, and Maidstone United.

Cardiff City reportedly paid £1 million for that.

Watters, however, had trouble with the Bluebirds and was loaned to Barnsley and then MK Dons.

"We identified Max as one of our top targets for the summer window, and our patience has paid off," Goodwin added.

He will give our frontline an entirely new dimension.

"With his superb off-the-ball movement, he can extend the game or serve as a direct focal point for his teammates to find."

"Max is driven to succeed and has a natural goal-scoring instinct."
