With Warwickshire 55-2 in chase of 393 going into the final day at Edgbaston, half-centurion Gareth Roderick thinks his team needs to remember that they are only "eight good balls away" from a spectacular away victory.
As his team reached 243 in their second innings, the keeper-batter came through with a crucial fifty at the top of the order in an opening partnership of 80 with Jake Libby.
After the Pears had dropped to 121-4, Ethan Brookes once again stole the show with a brilliant 87. He and Adam Finch combined for 91 for the ninth wicket, giving their opponents a huge 393 to win.
"The wicket is giving encouragement as the bowlers enter the final day needing eight-wickets for a crucial win in the side's bid for Rothesay County Championship Division One survival," Roderick stated, adding that the day's momentum changed throughout.
Yes, there are ups and downs throughout the day, with other teams dominating at different points, but fortunately, we entered day four in a respectable position thanks to Ethan's first innings knock and Ethan's second one today. "It was an odd time."
They bowled fairly well, in my opinion, the entire time. For a while, the wicket seemed to have some middling bounce, in my opinion. "Hopefully, that will occur tomorrow, and we will be able to benefit from it during that early session tomorrow.
Perhaps it's simply the wicket's wear and tear, but hopefully we'll see some of that tomorrow. It appeared somewhat calmer in the evening there, however I'm not sure if they placed a large roller on it.
I hope it gets a little worse tomorrow so we can get some wickets.
Roderick completed his third half-century of the season with another fifty in this match, building on his 80 against Hampshire in the previous outing following a difficult start to the four-day competition.
Although Roderick acknowledged that he is still not at his most fluid, he expressed relief at being able to support his team and set the stage at the top of the order, where he hopes the bowlers will be able to perform at their best tomorrow.
Even though I don't feel well, I'm fighting through it.
"It feels good to help. Naturally, I'm hoping it will result in something for the guys tomorrow.
They're putting in a lot of effort. Yes, 96 overs to take eight wickets, essentially. That's all. We say it over and over:
"Just eight good balls."
We had a great start with the ball there, and hopefully we can make some progress in the first hour tomorrow.
