West Brom Makes a Move for the Top Scorer in League One

Charlie Kelman of QPR, who won the Golden Boot in League One while on loan at Leyton Orient the previous season, is expected to be acquired by West Brom.

The striker is now anticipated to make the transition to Championship football after returning to his parent club prior to the 2025–2026 season.

However, according to Darren Witcoop's sources, West Brom is interested in Kelman, and another Championship team may be interested in the striker for the upcoming campaign.

Charlie Kelman is who?
After starting his career with FC Dallas, Kelman relocated to England to play for Southend United.

He scored eight goals in thirty-five games for Southend United, which led to his transfer to QPR in 2020.

The most successful of the American's several loan stints away from the Rs was with Leyton Orient.

The teenage forward returned to Brisbane Road for the 2024–25 season after winning League Two with the team in 2023, and he had a fantastic breakout season.
Under Richie Wellens, Kelman scored 27 goals in 61 appearances in all competitions, finishing as League One's top scorer and coming very close to winning a promotion as Orient lost to Charlton Athletic at Wembley, almost missing out on the Championship.

The forward has also played for the U.S. national team's youth setup.

West Brom to Kelman
West Brom appears to be going through a major makeover this season after finishing four points outside of the playoff spots due to poor play under Tony Mowbray after Carlon Corberan left.
Ryan Mason, a former Tottenham player who is now a coach, was recently hired and will be starting his first permanent managerial position with the Baggies.

Thus, the 34-year-old's image will be greatly influenced by this timeframe.

With just Josh Maja scoring in double figures for West Brom, the attacking areas will receive special attention from the Baggies in the summer market. They scored 57 goals in the Championship.
Young, athletic, and goal-oriented, Kelman possesses all the qualities needed to get to the second division.

Given Kelman's potential to be a Championship star, it would be doubtful if Julien Stephen did not include the 23-year-old in his plans for QPR next season
.

Following the club's excellent acquisitions to its attacking areas in Kwame Poku and Karamoko Dembele, it will be intriguing to observe QPR's position on their forward this summer given West Brom's desire.
