Rob Edwards, who was voted Championship Manager of the Month for August, will be looking to build on a current trend in the Championship.
The accolade, which was chosen by a team of EFL experts, went to the new Boro manager over rivals Mark Robins (Stoke City), Ryan Mason (West Brom), and Frank Lampard (Coventry City).
After the first month of play, Edwards led Boro to four straight victories and a Championship spot with just one goal given up.
Edwards demanded that the Rockliffe staff be included in the photo with his prize since he felt that the work was not just his.
"Everyone, including the players, staff, and supporters, put forth a lot of effort, and it's wonderful to receive some recognition for that," he said. The place exudes a pleasant vibe.
It's been terrific since I'm fortunate to work with some wonderful individuals and players, and the amazing supporters have made me feel very welcome.
Getting some early results has been fantastic, but we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves because we're just four games in and there are forty-two left.
"Our performances have been strong; we deserve the wins, and I believe we have more in store. We have considerable skill here, so we need to concentrate on maintaining our composure and consistency.
It's also encouraging for Boro's overall aspirations for promotion.
All four of the previous August award winners—Regis Le Bris (Sunderland, August 2024), Enzo Maresca (Leicester City, August 2023), Paul Heckingbottom (Sheffield United, August 2022), and Marco Silva (Fulham, August 2021)—went on to be promoted that season.
Actually, only two of the August Manager of the Month winners in the past decade have failed to advance (one being Chris Hughton at Brighton in 2015, who lost to Hull City in the play-offs after being beaten by Boro on the last day of the season). Boro met with Steve Cooper, who was at Swansea City in 2019, on their open position this summer.
Edwards has had a great start to life in the Boro hotseat, and this isn't the first good omen he has had. Boro has won their first four games of the season for the first time in thirty-one years.
The last occasion was during Bryan Robson's first season as manager, 1994–1995, which concluded with Boro winning promotion to the Premier League.
Edwards has made it apparent that they are not getting ahead of themselves, and there is undoubtedly a long way to go before they can duplicate that accomplishment this season.
However, given Boro's stellar start, this prize was well-deserved and has undoubtedly upped the bar for the campaign.
The Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month judges are chaired by former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson. "What a fantastic start for Rob Edwards," he added. delivering an upbeat and thrilling style of play, winning the entire month of August, and giving up just one goal.
Don Goodman, an EFL analyst for Sky Sports, stated: "Rob Edwards' tenure in the Middlesbrough bench has gotten off to a fantastic start.
With four straight victories in the first month of the Championship, his squad has set the pace. Despite the somewhat depressing victory over Swansea on the first day, which was won by a set piece, there is reason to be optimistic about the performances that have improved game by game.
"Rob Edwards' life as Middlesbrough's new manager couldn't have started any better," stated Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
With a perfect four-game winning streak in August, his team launched the campaign and put Boro atop the Championship going into the season's first international break.
Before a ball was kicked, they were tipped as one of the favourites for promotion, with odds of 9/2 across the board. However, their incredible start has caused those odds to drop to 11/4.
