Jim Goodwin: Talks about the bounce game were ruined by Dundee United's injury problems

Numerous ailments are plaguing the Tangerines' first team roster.

Injuries have ruined Jim Goodwin's plans to schedule a weekend bounce game for Dundee United.

Due to their participation in European competitions on each side of Saturday's scheduled match, the Dons requested that the Tangerines' Premiership match against Aberdeen be postponed.

Jim Goodwin's team has benefited greatly from the "free" time given United's injury problems.

After a busy August run, the Tangerines manager plans to make the most of the weekend without a schedule and has no plans to host a game.

When asked if a confrontation could take place behind closed doors, Goodwin responded, "No, I can't."

I had discussed a friendly with one club, but honestly, I believe it would be too risky considering the number of injuries we now have.

Dundee United Football Club "We just wouldn't understand why I would have asked the guys who played on Thursday and Sunday to play in a friendly as well."

Even though there isn't a game this weekend, Goodwin is adamant that his team will be occupied at their training camp at St Andrews University.

While efforts to expand the squad will continue, the emphasis will be on helping his players become a cohesive team rather than on physically pushing them.

"To be honest, there won't be much time off," Goodwin said.

We have several players who have recently returned from injury, including Fatah and Namoo, as well as newcomers Julius Eskesen and Luca Stephenson.

Therefore, there won't be many days off. In order to give the guys who have played every minute of the European campaign some time to recuperate and try to regain some freshness in their legs for next week, we will definitely attempt to lessen the workload's intensity this coming week.

But we'll put in a lot of effort. On the training pitch, we will work out the many issues we still have.
