In a shocking £10 million raid, Ipswich Town will capture a Norwich City star.

Marcelino Nunez is expected to make the shocking swap between Norwich City and Ipswich Town, who don't often conduct business together.

Reporter John Percy on X claims that Ipswich Town would target nearby rival Norwich City in an attempt to sign midfielder Marcelino Nunez.

Marcelino Nunez, a Chilean midfielder, is delaying on signing a new contract at Carrow Road, which is why Ipswich Town made the move.

Nunez joined the Canaries three years ago after agreeing to a contract with ITFC's bitter rivals that was set to expire the following summer.

The Norfolk club was reportedly eager to sell at the proper price, and there was speculation that an exit was likely around the beginning of August. This occurred as Turkey expressed interest in transferring the Chilean.

But two weeks ago, Canaries manager Liam Manning stated that Nunez was still in his plans. But according to Percy's tweet, this interest comes from Ipswich Town, the City's fiercest rival.

He claims that the £10 million contract, which includes £2.5 million in possible add-ons, will shortly be finalised.

The allure of Marcelino Nunez's championship experience Ipswich Town's 2025–26 Championship campaign has gotten off to a somewhat turbulent start.

The Tractor Boys, who were demoted from the Premier League the previous season, have lost one of their first three games and drawn two.

They are only one point above the drop zone in 18th place in the table as a result of their early losing streak.

They have made significant investments in Azor Matusiwa and Kasey McAteer, and Nunez will join them at Portman Road as part of their next summer transfer push.

Nunez has played in 107 Championship games throughout his three seasons with Norwich City, tallying 10 assists and 11 goals.

His degree of expertise and recognition demonstrates his ability to withstand the demands of what many consider to be the most difficult second-tier football tournament.

As alternatives increase, Ipswich Town must respond with better displays.

Nunez's arrival indicates that Kieran McKenna is seeking greater consistency and reliability in a midfield group that hasn't yet clicked.

His goal in adding Jens Cajuste (loan from Napoli) and Matusiwa is to get midfielders with a stronger defensive mindset.

That garment does not belong to Marcelino Nunez. His primary role is that of a central midfielder.

He has played as a more attack-focused midfielder, but he can also go back to a defensive midfield role.

In 114 of his 204 career appearances, he has been employed in a centre midfield role.

Ipswich Town now has options in the park's centre thanks to McKenna's addition of Nunez. Nevertheless, having alternatives is one thing, but using them is quite another, which is what the ITFC leader needs to do.

He must immediately incorporate Nunez into his midfield and football philosophy after paying such a high price for him. Even if there is still a lot of this season left, when performances and results plateau, time might seem to go rather quickly.

In other words, Ipswich Town needs to start responding to this £10 million agreement for Chilean midfielder Marcelino Nunez by relying on his Championship class.
