The unnamed Superliga side is understood to have tabled a bid well below Swindon’s valuation, sparking frustration within the County Ground hierarchy.
Smith, 29, enjoyed a prolific 2024/25 season, finishing as Swindon’s top scorer and securing the club’s Player of the Season award. His physical presence, aerial ability, and knack for decisive goals have made him a key figure under manager Ian Holloway, who is determined to keep the forward as part of the club’s League Two promotion push.
The Danish proposal, believed to be in the low six-figure range, was swiftly rejected without negotiation. Sources suggest Swindon view the bid as an insult to Smith’s importance, with the striker still having time left on his current contract. The club’s stance is that no player of Smith’s calibre should be allowed to leave for a cut-price fee—especially to an overseas side mid-preparation for the new campaign.
