The Championship team has given the interim leadership to the Hearts favourite.
Following Don Cowie's dismissal over the weekend, John Robertson has been named Ross County's interim manager.
Amid a dismal start to the second division, the Championship team fired the former Hearts and Cardiff City midfielder over the weekend.
Cowie was also in charge when they were demoted from the Premiership in May, but he was given confidence to turn things around. However, only three league games into the season, the Dingwall-based team has decided a change is necessary.
Prior to joining local rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle and later moving south to play for Watford, Cardiff City, and Wigan Athletic, Cowie began his playing career at County. After that, he hung up his boots with his first club, Hearts, where he also began his coaching career.
Following County's downfall, Hearts legend Robertson was added as an experienced number two in the summer.
After managing the Staggies in 2005 and serving as manager of Hearts, Livingston, Derry City, and East Fife, he now takes on the role of temporary manager at Inverness CT, the local rival of the last team he led.
John Robertson takes over as acting manager of Ross County. According to a Ross County statement, "John Robertson has been appointed as interim manager," the Ross County Football Club confirmed.
Robertson will oversee first team practice and get the team ready for our Scottish Championship game at East End Park against Dunfermline Athletic.
"Unfortunately, the start to our Championship season hasn't been up to the standard to which we all expected," Cowie said in reference to his departure from Ross County.
Following discussions with the board, we have decided that moving me out of my managerial role will benefit the club.
I wish the team all the best for the upcoming season because I think they have a group of players that can help them reach their aim of getting back into the Premiership.

John Robertson's motivation for joining Ross County Earlier this month, former striker Robertson said that he would only have gone back to playing front-line football for Cowie and former Hearts coach Liam Fox. "I wasn't in any great hurry," he continued.

When Roy enquired, I said that I would really need to talk to Don Cowie and Steven Ferguson, which I believed would give me a day or two. He responded that they were in the adjacent room. Don and I had a nice conversation.
"I've known him for years, and he's a guy I respect. There are only two guys I would do this for: Don and Liam Fox, who I'm very close to and who I mentored in his early Hearts days."
