In order to win their season opener this weekend, TRANMERE Rovers' manager Andy Crosby is adamant that they will travel to Colchester United.
After finishing in 20th place in League Two, the Wirral team is hoping to make significant progress in the 2024–2025 season. Crosby is aware that his Tranmere club will play Colchester, which is captained by seasoned players Danny and Nicky Cowley, but he still wants to win all three games at the JobServe Community Stadium.
"Saturday's game is when the business really starts," Crosby said to Tranmere Rovers FC.
"Colchester has a great seasoned managing team that has performed admirably at other clubs, and based on how they ended the previous campaign, I'm sure they'll be trying to build on that and keep competing at the top of the table.
"We must go there to accomplish our goal, which is to win." The goal of the game is to figure out a way to win.
"You have to attempt to strike that balance because sometimes we'll be incredibly fantastic and everyone will say, 'What a great performance.' Other times, we'll get the points when we probably don't deserve them.
"I place a lot of emphasis on attitude, willpower, physicality, organisation, and set plays.
"To even compete in League Two, we need to find all of those things on a regular basis because, in my opinion, if you don't, you get discovered."
Tranmere hopes to have a much better season after making a number of new additions this summer. The 'upward curve' of Frankie Terry upon his new Colchester contract Crosby, who was named Tranmere's permanent manager in May after a fruitful interim stint, continued,
"I'm sure we'll have hundreds going down to Colchester and I can guarantee that the players will represent them and the football club with real pride and we will compete in every single game."
"We'll run, we'll run hard, and we want to change the narrative from the previous few years about the club's decline in League Two and our final standing.
"We wish to attempt to reverse that. "We have goals for the season and let's see where it takes us, but it's the first game and we're going to take baby steps forward with this group."
