Adrian Akande, a former attacker for Reading, joins Colchester United

Adrian Akande, a former Reading forward, was signed by COLCHESTER United after a fruitful trial period.

After making an impression during his preseason stint with the U's, the 21-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract.

On the eve of the new season, the pair provides Colchester United with a crucial fitness boost.

Akande said, "It feels great," to cu-fc.com. I am thrilled and relieved. The team has a reputation for nurturing young athletes and assisting them in advancing their careers.

"That really appealed to me, along with the team's accomplishments from the previous season, just missing out on the playoffs, and the calibre of the coaching."

We are happy to announce Adrian Akande's two-year contract signing.

After leaving Reading, where he made 21 senior appearances last season, including 15 in League One, the 21-year-old made an impression during his trial this summer.

Before finishing his apprenticeship at Swansea City, Akande spent time in the Crystal Palace and Chelsea academies.

Ironically, he earned his senior Royals debut against Colchester at the JobServe Community Stadium in the Carabao Cup at the start of the season after joining Reading's under-21 team in 2022.

Colchester United signs Kane Vincent-Young to a new contract.

Under head coach Rubén Sellés, Akande had a significant impact in the first few weeks of the previous season, rising from the League One team's under-21 group to secure a spot in their first team.

During the 2024–2025 season, he made 21 appearances for the Royals.

A former attacker for Colchester United is predicting his former team will be promoted.

He joined the U's ahead of the next League Two season after becoming a free agent at the end of the previous campaign.
