Watford had a definite edge over Middlesbrough and Birmingham in the transfer fight for a striker with nine goals.

Watford has been very active during the summer transfer window and doesn't appear to be slowing down.

When Tom Cleverley was fired in May, EFL fans were taken aback, and Hornets fans were not pleased with his successor, Paulo Pezzolano, who took over at Vicarage Road.

After a poor season finale, it is evident that those working behind the scenes are putting in a lot of effort to prepare the club for the Championship in 2025–2026, especially since Hector Kyprianou has already signed for the upcoming campaign.

Watford will now reveal a new addition before to their opening preseason games.

The race for Vivaldo Semedo is won by Watford. Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey has informed EFL Analysis that Watford has finalised a deal for Vivaldo Semedo, a striker for Udinese.

We can reveal that Semedo has signed a five-year contract with the Hornets' Italian sister club, and the Championship team is now expected to confirm his arrival.

We can also report that Watford managed to capture the Portuguese youth international by fending off interest from several other clubs.

The 20-year-old made an impression with nine goals while on loan at Vizela, a Portuguese club, last season. We are aware that Birmingham and Middlesbrough expressed interest as well.

In the transaction, the Hornets had the advantage. Even though Birmingham City has their own appeal following the Blues' historic League One season, it's challenging to beat Watford to an Udinese player.

As the Hertfordshire team looks to wrap up three years without playing in the Premier League, the Hornets have ties to the Italian team through their owners, and transactions are frequently made between the two teams.

If they want to move up the standings in 2025–2026, they must bring in a striker. Even though Semedo is only 20 years old, he has a lot of talent and the opportunity to grow at Vicarage Road. But more stars are still required because Imran Louza is probably going to leave.
