Gary Rowett, the manager of Oxford United, on new star contracts

Gary Rowett is happy with Oxford United's ability to give several of his players new contracts this summer.

Along with goalkeepers Jamie Cumming, Simon Eastwood, and Matt Ingram, as well as other first team players Ciaron Brown, Sam Long, and Mark Harris, Tyler Goodrham became the most recent U's player to commit to the squad for the future.

Along with the aforementioned septet, youthful forward Leo Snowden has agreed to his first professional contract, while Josh Johnson and James Golding, all of whom showed promise, have signed new contracts.

It is believed that Brown, Cumming, Harris, and Long all had one year remaining on their prior contracts out of the group of players that signed new ones.

"Anyone who has done well for you and has a year left on their contract, I think there's always that need to try and provide that little bit of solidity and continuity to the squad," stated United head coach Rowett.

We should give priority to players who have performed well in the Championship, in my opinion. For various reasons, different players have signed.

For various reasons, we want players to re-sign, but in the end, everyone of those players contributed to the team during the previous season, so I'm happy they all signed.
