The ceremony, originally planned for the traditional outdoor setting, was relocated indoors to the Capitol Rotunda due to extreme cold weather conditions. 

The day's events commenced with a service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, followed by a pre-inaugural tea at the White House, where outgoing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden welcomed President-elect Trump and his wife, Melania Trump.
