Exclusive: Dundee United winger Amar Fatah envisions an emotional reunion in his ideal Euro scenario

Amar Fatah, a loan player from Dundee United, is eager to make up lost time on a thrilling European evening at Tannadice.

Even though the Tangerines were losing ground in the closing minutes, 21-year-old Fatah made his competitive debut on Sunday afternoon against Hearts, showing a few moments of promise.

Due to a chronic hamstring injury, the Sweden U/21 international has had a frustrating start to his United career, just being able to watch.

This includes watching from the sidelines in Vienna as the unrelenting Terrors pulled off a stunning 2-2 draw with Rapid in front of an amazing crowd at the Allianz Stadion.

Fatah, who is on loan from Troyes for the season, is only more motivated to leave his mark in the second leg of the match as a result of this experience.

 More will follow.

Fatah told Courier Sport, "It was a really good stadium in Vienna and a good atmosphere to sample." However, I believe that our supporters turned up in force and shown their abilities.

"I think the boys did a fantastic job, but any player on the sidelines would want to be a part of such a great game."

I'm hoping to contribute on Thursday.

"One of the main reasons I came to Dundee United was for these kinds of nights.

Being a part of this trip will be enjoyable. We haven't advanced this far in the European qualifier in a long time, I was informed.

"There's no doubt that the evening will be noisy! It will be a nice atmosphere to play in because I believe Rapid will come their fans as well.

"This is a great position to be in—at home, with a game to win to advance to the playoffs."

"I'm glad to be back from my injury, and it was nice to get on the pitch on Sunday," Fatah continued.

I feel rejuvenated. I put in a lot of behind-the-scenes work to return healthy and strong.

"My first game was against the Hearts. There will be more opportunities for me to turn and assist the team when I have the ball in the centre or on the wing, like I am accustomed to doing.

The situation in the dream Fatah may have an emotional reunion if United defies the odds and dumps Rapid on Thursday night.

The winners, who presently lead 2-1, will face either AIK Stockholm or Gyor of Hungary in the playoff round.

Sweden has awarded Amar Fatah a U/21 cap.

After joining AIK from IF Brommapojkarna's youth divisions, Fatah created a name for himself by dominating the top division upon his debut at the age of 17.

Troyes, who was financed by the City Group, paid €5 million for his services.

"That would be something really special that I dream of," Fatah continued. I sincerely hope that they (AIK) succeed and that we can as well. Since departing, I haven't played against AIK, so I'm hoping for that.
