"Excited to see": The Portsmouth target that was reported Amidst transfer rumours, Griffin Yow has already discussed his future.

 

The most recent player to be linked to a move to Pompey is Griffin Yow, a forward with KVC Westerlo.

 Griffin Yow, a reported Pompey target, has previously stated that he is amenable to leaving KVC Westerlo this summer. 

 The highly regarded 22-year-old forward acknowledged in an interview with Goal.com in May that he was "excited" to see where his talent would take him next and that, after three seasons in Belgium, he was prepared to make the most recent change in his career.

However, after Westerlo brought him to the Jupiler Pro League from MLS team DC United in 2022, the driven USA under-23 international and Olympian emphasised that his next chance had to be the right one and that he would depart with a great deal of thanks.

Yow, a rising star as a right-winger, has made 66 league appearances for Westerlo, tallying 15 goals and dishing out eight assists.

Scouts have flocked to Het Kuipje to see the American's remarkable growth due to his statistics and his rising popularity in Belgium. Anderlecht is a well-known admirer, and a move to the Championship or the Bundlesliga was mentioned last summer.

 Pompey has since entered the list of possible suitors, according to reports from Stateside on Tuesday. Pompey also signed offensive midfielder Adrian Segecic this summer.

 Additionally, Yow's recent remarks about pushing his skills to a new level and in a different environment will have given them encouragement as they ostensibly consider an anticipated transfer for the player.

The reported Pompey target makes their goals apparent. Yow, who did not play in Westerlo's most recent preseason friendly against AEK Larnaca on Wednesday, stated in a May interview regarding the future course of his career: 

"What will my next move be?" What do I do next? Where am I going to play? Will Westerlo and I be present?

 Am I going to be there or somewhere else? What national team competition can I begin preparing for next? There are many things that will either transform my life or that I'm eager to show myself in the near future. 

 I simply can't wait to see. Yes, I'm eager to find out what comes next.

Yow continued, "I'm someone who is always striving for more," considering that the World Cup in the USA next year is quickly approaching. 

 I'm not content with simply accepting this as my level. Yes, I feel comfortable here. I definitely feel at ease here, but I also want to push myself and go to the next level.

 "I want to compete against these world-class teams in the Champions League and the World Cup." Yes, I wouldn't have any doubts if a better circumstance arose, but it would have to be a better one. Without a doubt, I'm prepared for the next phase, but it must be the correct one.
